Who is behind it?

Daniel. In the markets since 2014, first as a trader, then as a writer. The Philosopher Investor started as a newsletter on Substack, one email a week on what the tape is doing and which names deserve attention. The desk you are reading grew out of the same work: the scans that fed the letter, opened up as a tool.

The name is not decoration. Stoic philosophy is how Daniel keeps discipline in a business that punishes emotion: focus on the process, detach from any single outcome, and let the rules do the work on the days when the mood says otherwise.

What does the desk do?

After each US close, the system reads the whole US market, 12,000+ names, keeps the 5,648 liquid ones, and runs more than a dozen independent scans over them: trend, pullbacks, breakouts, bottoms, options flow, insider buying, Congress trades, dealer gamma, fundamentals. Every name that clears a scan gets a conviction score, the levels that matter, and a plain-English read on why it is there. The morning shortlist is short on purpose.

The machine does the part no person can: scan everything, every session, with the same rules. The human does the part the machine cannot: decide what the rules are, and say plainly what a setup means. How a pick is made walks through it step by step.

What is it not?

• Not stock tips. A name on the board is a setup that cleared a scan, with its levels. What you do with it is your call.
• Not real time. Prices update through the session, the scans run after the close. It is built for swing traders, not for the next five minutes.
• Not a promise. Some flagged names go nowhere. When a setup fails, you see that too.

Where does the data come from?

Daily prices and volumes for the whole US market, options flow and open interest, SEC filings for insiders and 13F holdings, and the official House disclosures for Congress trades. Everything on a public page is a fact about a name you can check elsewhere. The ranking, the thesis and the levels stay with members.
